I was across the River from you this morning, and also saw the old gentleman fishing for carp. I was tossing a worm at the lily pads to the left of them (wearing a red baseball hat), trying to shake off the bad mojo of a large bass I lost there on Wednesday, easily in the 5-pound range. I was using 10 lb. test then, had him on, but snapped the line after he rolled on me. This morning I was using 8lb diameter (30lb equivalent) Spiderwire, and while I got nothing there, I got two small largemouth on the morning, one in a hyrdrilla bed between the bridge and the opening to the lake and one on the lily pads in the southwest corner of the lake, both on a watermelon zoom trick worm. Rest of the mornings was slow though, spending more time watching the fingerling bass and perch eye up my lures in the shallows than getting any good hits; I'm glad someone had good luck on the River this morning though. |
